Jan-Georg Rosenboom

Chemical Engineer

Jan-Georg is a Chemical Engineer with a focus on designing polymers for people and the planet. He works in the labs of Prof. Langer and Prof. Traverso at MIT and BWH/HMS, where he uses polymer chemistry to develop new plastic upcycling pathways, bioplastic life cycles, and novel drug delivery technology against infectious diseases and cancer. Jan-Georg works with the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium (MCSC) and is a plastics sustainability consultant for several major companies. Prior to his work at MIT, he did a PhD at ETH Zurich where he developed a new process to make PEF, a bioplastic that will reach commercial scale through production by SULZER (CH) soon. He is a previous TEDxMIT speaker about carbon-negative bioplastics.
