I have been committed to discovering and implementing strategies that address environmental quality and social justice/economic equality. Professionally I have alternated between public and non-profit bases in my attempts to achieve that end. I had hands-on experience in applying comprehensive anticipatory design science to areas of food and energy production at a 12-acre think-do research “farm” called the New Alchemy Institute in the 80s where I l was introduced to the art/science of ecological design. I have served twice as Massachusetts Commissioner of Agriculture and was appointed first ED of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust. Served four years as the ED of a multicultural grass roots community organizing and planning entity that was the first and only non-profit community organization to be granted the power of eminent domain – used to implement its resident-driven plan for the revitalization of their neglected and exploited neighborhood.
